Hollywood Awards are known for being lavish affairs, and the 23rd Annual Film Awards hosted at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel kept the legacy and buzz alive. The Sunday event marked the beginning of the awards season and gave a fresh preview and insight about what lies in store for this season’s award night. Now, this requires no second mention that awards aside, posing for the paparazzi and turning heads with the newest looks is another major reason why we (the commoners) wait for celebs with bated breath. Who doesn’t like to watch their favorite celeb sizzle with a hot new look on the red carpet?
Check out who stole the limelight at the HFA 2019:
The Veterans Stole The Limelight
The event was grandiose in every possible way as celebs ticked the right boxes with the fashion quotient on point! On October 29th, the Hollywood Film Awards show announced talented honorees like Renee Zellweger, Shia LeBeouf, Antonio Banderas, and Charlize Theron, to mention a few in the respective categories they were chosen for. What stands interesting is the mingling of the most seasoned stars and how they bestow the awards to recipients, prior to them going ahead with their acceptance speeches.
Rob Riggle Did A Stellar Job As The Host
A ceremony that has been a favorite since 1997, the event started off with the best Blockbuster Award, rightly given to Avengers: Endgame. Rob Riggle, the host for the evening, deserves every bit of that applause as he infused the correct balance of humor and entertainment (read: controversy) by announcing the name of legend Martin Scorcese for presenting the awards. Actually, Scorcese had earlier made a comment for the Marvel fans stating how the film misses striking the emotional chords of humans. Riggle and his presence of mind did wonders to the evening as he moved on quickly to introduce Mark Ruffalo who handed the award to Kevin Feige, the Marvel chief, accompanied by the VP of the film, Victoria Alonso.
Legends Reunited
Scorcese kept hopes alive this year, thanks to The Irishman, a Netflix series that’s currently making the news. He honored Emma Tillinger Koskoff, his longtime producer, who got the Hollywood Producer of the Year award. She was in tears while accepting the much-coveted prize and thanked Scorcese for his trust and support, besides his teachings and inspiration to learn the ‘mastery of the craft’ called films. Also, Al Pacino took home the award for the best supporting actor, from veteran filmmaker Francis Coppola. Pacino delivered notable performances for Coppola with some renowned work earlier like Dog Day Afternoon, Scarface, and Serpico. He was teary-eyed, too, and couldn’t stop expressing his love for Charlize Thereon and Shia LaBeouf, who kept cheering him from the audience.
And The Award Goes To…
Renee Zellweger essayed the role of Judy Garland in the biographical film, Judy, with absolute flawlessness. This has been a career-changing role for Renee, and she’s already slated to be the frontrunner for this year’s Oscar best actress. The Awards night ensured she began her winning journey therein! The Hollywood Career Achievement award went to the renowned South African actress, Charlize Theron. Clad in black dress pants and a tunic of the same color, her pictures with Nicole Kidman on Instagram got more attention than her acceptance speech. And that’s quite natural given her choice that came straight from the collection of Alexander McQueen Fall 2019 runway.
The Unforgettable Acceptance Speech From Shia LeBeouf
Shia LeBeouf not only made news for cheering but also on behalf of Honey Boy, his new film that deals with a child actor and the relationship he shares with his father. LeBeouf did a wonderful job managing the roles of a director and even casting himself as the father in the movie. His acceptance speech that highlighted the circumstances in the run-up to the movie, indeed, took the attention of many. Not to miss out on his dapper look on the red carpet as well!
Almost every actor did justice to their looks. From Zellweger to Pacino and LeBeouf to Coppola, every single celebrity got the paparazzi hooked. The 23rd Awards night gained a huge fan following and everyone just couldn’t get enough. The awards event usually precedes the major ones in Hollywood, and this time, it was truly a spectacle. With the finest of artists in film, stage, and television gracing the awards show, the night was one of a kind.
