A book gives flight to your imagination while the films may offer you everything on a platter, and it does not help you exercise your imagination. So, it’s no surprise that we all love to see our kids grab a book always. However, here are a few movies that you could get your little one to watch and use to introduce them to the amazing world of books.
Once your kid falls in love with these movies, we are sure it would be easy for you to get them to read the book. And then, as they say, the book is always better!’ So, it wouldn’t take too long for your child to start falling in love with reading.
Most of these stories have been around for generations. While not every book adapted into films may turn out to be exactly how you imagined it to be, still, these are some of the best ones we could find for you and your kid. Enjoy them with a big bowl of cheesy popcorn and lose yourself in the kid’s world of fantasy, fun, and adventure!
Matilda
The classic book by Roald Dahl had numerous onscreen adaptations. Matilda is a creation by Danny DeVito, which dates back to 1996. While the film did not immediately appeal to the masses, eventually, both kids and adults warmed up to the film franchise. It is also a rousing tale of a smart little girl’s fight against the cruel world. It stayed as true to the source tale as possible and is still immensely liked by both kids and adults.
Alice In Wonderland
Alice in Wonderland, the movie is an adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s best-selling novel Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. This movie has been hugely successful in tapping into Alice’s imaginative world, all thanks to the director, Tim Burton. The film is about the little girl, Alice, and the adventures she enjoys as she explores Wonderland. The movie is a take on the old animated classic and till all enjoy today. And we are sure your child would love it, just as much as you did when you were young!
Harry Potter Films
Well, when we are talking about book-to-screen adaptations, we can hardly forget Harry Potter? This novel series, written by JK Rowling, launched an immensely popular film franchise. Several directors have put together the movies, yet it has found favor by everyone. It is certainly one of the books that have enjoyed humongous success on the screen. Tales of magic have always been popular, and the Harry Potter series is no different.
Gulliver’s Travel
There have been many adaptations to this classic book, such as Le Voyage de Gulliver à Lilliput et chez les géants in 1902, The New Gulliver in 1935, the latest one is Gulliver’s Travels. This book, penned by Jonothan Swift, has been extremely popular and has successfully entertained generations together. The story is about a travel writer Lemuel Gulliver who travels to Bermuda on an assignment, but his ship wrecks midway. He finds himself waking up on an island full of tiny people. The movie is imaginative, funny, and can enrapture the young audience from start to finish.
The Hobbit
The Hobbit is one of the most famous books written by J.R.R. Tolkien in 1937. Most of Tolkien’s books have a movie adaption, which is greatly successful. This includes the great success of the Lord of the Rings books.
It has all the right ingredients to engage and excite a kid. Right from the battles between Orcs, Goblins, and other quaint creatures are something most kids love.
Bambi
The animated film Bambi adapts the 1923 book Bambi, a Life in the Woods by Felix Salten for the big screen. The latest version of the Bambi II hit the screens in 2006, and everyone was in awe of it! In the eponymous story of Bambi, the buck fawn goes through the various trials and tribulations of life. It is the story of the fawn and what he does after he loses his mother.
He is handheld through the journey with the help of his friends. You get many life lessons from this film, how these small bunch of friends manages to face small big challenges, and come out of it with resilience. This film offers a great learning curve for kids.
