In response to the chemical attacks, Donald Trump orders strike on Syria on Friday. Speaking to the nation, Trump said that the purpose of the strike was to destroy the areas armed with chemical weapons.
He added that the wholesale killing of Syrian people was a clear escalation of the chemical weapons used by Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad. Trump said that the contemptible and evil attack left the mothers and children wobbling in pain and wheezing for air. Such attacks cannot be carried out by the humans but the monsters.
After that, James Mattis the defense secretary told the media that such chemical attacks depict the international resolve to ban the use of chemical weapons. Mattis further said that we are sure that these attacks are carried out by the Syrian regime. In response to the statement released by the US officials, Russia said that such attacks will not end without consequences.
Mattis said that it looks Assad regime did not take our message seriously last year and this time we will strike harder. We tried what we could to avoid any sort of civilian casualties but this time we sent our message clearer than ever.
According to Joseph Dunford, the joint chief of staff, we were able to destroy three points where the chemical weapons were being prepared and stored. And these three points include a chemical weapon storage, a sarin storage center, and a scientific research center. Dunford also reported that all the important infrastructure was destroyed.
No further strikes are planned and Russia was not informed about the attacks, Dunford stated.
Later on, Syrian media also confirmed that a chemical weapon store in Barzeh was destroyed by the US strikes. On Saturday, an official statement was released by the Russian defense ministry claiming that out of 103, 71 strikes were intercepted. Syrian media also claimed the same about the strikes. But no evidence was given by either government about these claims. While Russia also stated that no one was killed in these strikes.
Syrian media highly criticised these strikes saying that these are the cowardly attacks and were only done to save America’s face.
While speaking on Syrian strikes, Trump also talked about Iran and Russia. I ask from both Russia and Iran, what kind of nation would want to be involved in the massacre of innocent women and children? Every country in the world is known by the fellow countries and no one can succeed by promoting terrorism.
Trump also reminded about the promise made by Putin back in 2013 about the elimination of chemical weapons from Syria. Recent chemical attacks made by Syrian regimes are the clear indication of the failure of the fulfilling that promise, Trump further said.
Trump also said that the time has come when Russia must decide whether he wants to continue this way or he will join the other civilized nations for making the world peaceful. The president also expressed his thoughts on working together with Iran and Russia saying that maybe we will work together in the future but maybe not.
Both Russia and France responded to the recent US strikes on Syria. Putin labeled the strikes as an act of aggression against a miserable nation who is fighting against terrorism for a long time. French presidency stated that we need to preview all the possible options and see if Russia is willing to engage in a multinational process.
The US president also said that the US has no intentions of an indefinite presence in Syria. He further added that we are anxiously waiting for the day when we call our forces back. We cannot act in every reign of terror.
Peace in the Middle East is not associated with the American blood and money. At the end of his speech, Trump said that we pray to God that the war comes to an end in Syria. We pray that the whole world becomes a land of peace and we pray that God showers his blessings on the United States of America.
Both James Mattis and Joseph Dunford had a meeting with the president on Wednesday about the strikes on Syria. Also, Trump spoke with the PM of the UK and the president of France several times in this week.
